BIOGRAPHY

Catherine Lockwood, M.A., L.M.F.T., is a Marriage & Family Therapist (California license # MFC38789).

She provides individual adult psychotherapy, couples therapy, couples-and-sex therapy, pre-marital therapy, trauma treatment and family counseling.

Lockwood graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Science from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Ryokan College in Los Angeles.

Lockwood has served as a Guest Lecturer in the Couples & Sex Training Program, David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

She has served on the faculty of the Doctoring/Clinical Skills program at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, instructing and training medical students in clinical skills and psychological/emotional factors that impact patient health.

Lockwood’s practice is informed by Intensive Short-Term Psychodynamic Therapy (ISTDP).  She has trained in ISTDP with such luminaries as Jon Fredrickson MSW, Josette Ten Have-de Labije PsyD, John Rathauser PhD, Marvin Skorman MA LMHC, and Susan Warshow MSW, among other illustrious instructors. On an ongoing basis she attends seminars on ISTDP and related modalities, presented by leading international ISTDP educators.

She is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) Semel Institute Program in Couples and Sex Therapy  through the American Association of Marriage and Sex Therapists (AACAST), and is an AACAST-accredited Couples and Sex Therapist.

Lockwood is also a graduate of the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute Level 1 Treatment of Trauma program and was trained by its founder Dr. Pat Ogden.
